记得出国前曾经有过这样一种传言，大意是，“西方人人情淡漠，子女对父母感情不深，孩子长大后父母就不管了，甚至子女要见父母都要打个电话提前预约。” 国人曾用此来批评西方人感情上的冷淡。

这些年在外，才明白其实西方人的感情也是很细腻的，只是在表达方式上和我们略有不同。

英国的母亲节，与中国和美国等其它国家的母亲节不同，是每年的四旬斋（西方复活节之前除去星期天的四十天）的第四个星期天，传统上称为Mothering Sunday，现在又叫母亲节Mother's Day。今年的母亲节是3月26日。

周五放学回家，我偷偷翻看了他的书包，看到了他给我做的卡片。卡片上打印着I love you because: 儿子填的原因是" you bigh(buy) me thing。他学了phonics，卡上的字是他按自然拼读的原则，自己拼写的，虽然他把buy拼成了bigh，但igh确实也发i的音，对于4岁半的孩子来说能拼写成这样已经很不错了。怕我看不懂，老师还贴心的在下面用小字标注了，儿子所想表达的单词的正确拼写。

儿子每天都会从学校的图书馆里带一本书回家，上周他带回一本书名叫《Love you forever》，给他读到一半时，我就已经泪流满面, 哽咽到读不下去了。全书没有华丽的词藻，却深深的触动了我的心。简单朴实的英文，让我感到了英语的语言魅力。不论是西方人还是东方人，妈妈的爱都是一样的厚重，孩子永远是妈妈手心里的宝。

我请求诸神，让妈妈身体健康，我可以一直做宝不做草；也让我平平安安，可以陪儿子长大，让他做宝不做草。

中国人最应该过的洋节就是母亲节，哪怕是把英国的，美国的母亲节都拿过来，再定一个自己的母亲节都不为过。

A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him she sang:

That baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew.

宝宝长啊。他长啊、长啊、长啊长。

He grew until he was two years old and he ran all around the house.

他长到了2岁，在家里跑来跑去。

He pulled all the books out of the shelves.

他把书架上的所有书都拉到地上。

He pulled all the food out of the fridge and he took his mother’s watch and flushed it down the toilet!

Sometimes the mother would yell.

‘This child is driving meCrazy.’

But at night-time, when that two-years-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, tiptoed across the floor and looked down at his bed. If he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and sang:

And he never wanted to come in for dinner and he never wanted to take a bath and when Grandma visited he sometimes said bad words at the dinner table.

他再也不想回家吃饭，不想泡澡，当祖母来看他，有时晚餐桌上他还会说一些不好的话。

Sometimes the mother wanted to sell him to the zoo!

有时妈妈真想把他卖给动物园。

But at night-time, when he was asleep, the mother quietly opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep she picked up that eight-year-old boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

但是当夜幕降临，他睡着后，妈妈轻轻的打开了他的房门，缓慢的走到床边，从上看着他。如果他真的睡熟了，妈妈便抱起8岁的他摇啊摇，摇啊摇，摇啊摇，边摇边唱到:

He wore strange clothes and had strange friends and listened to strange music.

Sometimes his mother felt like she was in a zoo.

有时妈妈觉得她好象是在一个动物园。

　　But at night, his mother opened the door to his room, crept across the floor and looked down at the bed. If that teenager was really asleep she kissed him on the cheek and sang:

He left home and got a flat on the other side of town.

But sometimes on dark nights the mother took a bus across town.

　　If all the lights in her son’s house were out, she let herself in, tiptoed upstairs and looked at the bed. If that great big man was really asleep she kissed him on the cheek and whispered:

So the son went to see his mother and when he came in the door she tried to sing the song:

But she was too old and sick to finish the song.
